On August 27, we spent a sunny afternoon by the canal at Islands Brygge with snacks, cold beers, and great conversation. To top it off, four members shared their experiences with LifeX and what living in Copenhagen feels like.
On 27th August, we met by the water at Islands Brygge -snacks on the grass, beers and soft drinks in our hands. Just a few lovely hours soaking in the last bits of the summer sun with our Life X members.
Some of the faces were brand new, others have been with us over the years. That mix is the whole point, someone who landed three weeks ago gets local bakery recommendations from someone who has already found the best spots, and everyone gets to enjoy a good company.
We asked four members to tell us how they ended up here and how is their experience so far.
Paula moved from Spain with her partner and had been in Copenhagen for exactly a month. Before LifeX, she had spent an entire month just hunting for a flat.
"We were looking for apartments for a whole month until we found LifeX. It actually saved us. It was super easy to do it from home — all the paperwork, everything just very quick. It was really smooth and trustworthy."
It's her first time sharing a space, and she's sold on it: her roommates are all young professionals, and they eat together most evenings.
"We have so much fun sharing the table every night. We get to speak about our day, our work, what we do. And we do a cycle once a week together, or we go and try a pastry place."
Sasha arrived at the start of June, coming from Lisbon. His search was short but rough.
"I tried the Facebook groups, I tried different websites, and it's very difficult. There are a lot of scammers, especially on Facebook. So it's really hard to find something good, something serious."
LifeX came as a recommendation, and he signed without ever setting foot in the apartment.
"I had a video call with Olivia and she was super helpful — I asked a lot of questions and she was so nice. Then I signed the contract without ever being here, which is very nice as an international, because for many apartments you need to visit first. Here everything was online. Very easy."
Arnan came to Copenhagen for two years, and he knew exactly what he was looking for.
"I was looking for something that is easy and gets me access to the CPR, because that opens so many doors."
He found Life X on Boligportal, and the move-in was about as easy as a move-in gets.
"It was very fluid, very convenient. I picked up the key at the pickup point close to here and went to my apartment. The apartment is really nice, well furnished, and I have very good roomies."
Before LifeX, A and her husband spent three months in a place outside the city. It never quite clicked. Then someone at a party mentioned Life X and sent a link.
"We checked the website and saw one room free in the city centre. The furniture was ready for us — the bedroom, the living room, the kitchen. So nice. You guys prepare for the new people with a warm welcome. It made me happy to live in Copenhagen."
A year and three months later she works five minutes by bike from her workplace!
"I told my husband, I'm not gonna move. This is my place forever. Because everything seems like it was prepared for me."
Four people, four completely different routes into the same city — and one afternoon where they all ended up on the same patch of grass.
